PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fall prevention device capable of winding a safety belt safely though a large quantity of it is pulled out.
SOLUTION: When the safety belt 4 is pulled out and a drum is rotated at an angular speed not slower than a certain value, the other end 20 of a lock pawl 8 is kicked up by a ratchet gear 7 and one end 19 is engaged with the ratchet gear 7 to prevent the rotation of the drum. In the fall prevention device 1 an angle formed by a tangent in the peripheral direction of the ratchet gear 7 and the tangent of the contact surface of the other end 20 at the contact point of the other end 20 of the rock pawl 8 and the ratchet gear 7 is not larger than 30°.
