PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a macrocyclic ketone in high concentrations. SOLUTION: This method for obtaining an α-alkoxycrbonyl macrocyclic ketone comprises intramolecular condensation of a 18-21C long-chain dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester in the presence of titanium tetrachloride or zirconium tetrachloride and a trialkylamine. Then α-alkoxycarbonyl macrocyclic ketones obtained are hydrolyzed and then decarboxylated to produce the macrocyclic ketone.
