[Class 12 (i)] A shaft bearing comprises a base-plate 5 and supports 6, 7 welded thereto which engage the externally reduced end portions of a separate bearing member 8 having a bore 13 of the desired size, thus supporting the bearing member and locating it axially. The baseplate is secured to a mounting 9 by bolts 10. Additional recesses may be formed in the external surface of the member 8 intermediate its ends, and may be engaged by intermediate supports pressed out of the base-plate 5. In a modification, the supports 6, 7 are formed integrally with the base-plate 5. The bearing member 8 may be formed of sintered bronze. An oil hole 14 is provided in the member 8.
