The invention relates to a cylindrical crankcase for an internal combustion engine, comprising a plurality of cylinders having longitudinal profiles in the form of lateral hollow reinforcing profiles and high profiles in the form of reinforcing profiles in the region of the base bearing plane in the approximate direction of the cylinder.
