A composite link comprising a fiber reinforced composite tube (20), an end fitting (24) on each end of the tube (20) and layers of resin impregnated fiber (44) wound over the end fittings (24) and tube (20). The fiber (40) is laid in a primary layer (46) formed by winding longitudinally over the end fittings (24) and a secondary layer (50) wound transversely around the primary layer (46) and the tube (20). The tube (20), fitting (24) and layers of fiber (46 and 50) are encased in a layer of shield material such as a paint or a polymer.
