The invention discloses a hollow structure catalyst for electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide, and a preparation method of the hollow structure catalyst, and belongs to thetechnical field of carbon dioxide resource utilization. A Cu(OH)2@ZIF-8 composite material is carbonized under 1000 DEG C inert nitrogen, and a C-Cu(OH)2@ZIF-1000 carbon material of a hollow structureis prepared. The CO2 catalytic reduction performance of the material is improved by adjusting and controlling the morphology of the material; through addition of ZIF-8, a carbon source and a nitrogensource are provided, meanwhile, different types of nitrogen are formed after high-temperature carbonization, and thus the good catalytic reduction effect is achieved; through addition of a copper salt, a metal-nitrogen co-doping structure is formed, and through the synergistic effect between the ZIF-8 and the copper salt, the CO2 catalytic reduction capability of the material is further improved;and the method is simple, convenient, quick, easy to operate, environmentally friendly and capable of being applied to industrial production on a large scale.
