The invention discloses bio-based dicyclopentadiol copolyester and application thereof, and the applicationsin electronics, electrical appliances, automobiles, baby bottles, water cups, food packaging, optical fields, decorative materials and kitchen electric products. According to raw materials, the bio-based dicyclopentadiol copolyester is prepared from the following components: (a) terephthalicacid and easter of the terephthalic acid; (b) aliphatic dihydric alcohols; and (c) dicyclopentadiol as shown in a formula (I) (please see the specification for the formula), and the bio-based dicyclopentadiol copolyester is prepared by esterification or transesterification reaction of the components (a), (b) and (c) after mixing and then polycondensation. According to the bio-based dicyclopentadiol copolyester, the copolyester is not only environmentally friendly, not release harmful substances to a human body in the process of use, but also can have the high glass transition temperature, good transparency and high impact toughness and other properties at the same time.
