The invention relates to an activated ion doped ABAlO4 single crystal fiber, and a preparation method and application thereof. The chemical composition of the optical fiber is activated ion doped CaGdAlO4, and activated ions are Yb<3+> for doping, or Er<3+> and Yb<3+> for double doping. According to the invention, the CaGdAlO4 (CGA) single crystal fiber grown by adopting a laser heated pedestal growth method belongs to a tetragonal crystal system, wherein the melting point is 1840 DEG C, the transmission spectrum is wide, self-absorption is avoided in the visible light wave band, and the maximum phonon energy is 618 cm<-1> and is lower than maximum phonon energy of a part of oxide crystals. Excellent thermal performance of CGA crystals is combined with unique large length-diameter ratio ofsingle crystal fibers, so that the ABAlO4 crystal has excellent application values in ultrafast laser output and mid-infrared bands.
