The invention provides a selection method and device of a virtual network function. According to the method, virtual network functions needed by a target service in a service request are determined; data centers deployed with the virtual network functions are looked up in a preset network topology, available application resources of the various data centers, available bandwidth resources of related links, application resources capable of being consumed by the virtual network functions of the various data centers and occupied bandwidth resources of the various data centers are determined, and on this basis, load assessment factors of the various data centers are calculated separately; the load assessment factors of the various data centers deployed with the same target virtual network function are compared, and the data center with the minimum load assessment factor is determined as a to-be-used data center according to a comparison result; and accordingly, the influence of the selecteddata center on the load state of a network is reduced.
