The invention discloses a passive entry passive start (PEPS) system integrating a normal starting mode and a remote starting mode and achieving the automobile safety integrity level (ASIL) B, and a method for improving the remote starting safety of the PEPS system. According to the PEPS system, under the normal starting mode, an ignition power supply unit and an ignition power supply retention unit jointly control starting and stopping of an ignition power supply relay; and under the remote starting mode, only the ignition power supply unit controls starting and stopping of the ignition powersupply relay, and it is guaranteed that the ignition power supply retention unit is in a prohibited state. Through the two different ignition power supply modes under the normal starting mode and theremote starting mode, the PEPS system is improved to the ASIL B, and thus the ASIL B is deployed at the vehicle system level.
