The invention discloses a positioning method and positioning device for a cutting piece. The positioning method for the cutting piece comprises the following steps: acquiring coordinates of at least three edge points relative to a base point on the cutting piece, wherein at least three edge points are not on a straight line; obtaining a first contour of the cutting piece according to the coordinates of at least three edge points which are not on a straight line relative to the base point; comparing the first contour with a preset contour to obtain coordinates of a preset position relative to the base point. According to the positioning method and positioning device of the cutting piece, corresponding processes on the preset position of the cutting piece can be accurately carried out, thereby ensuring the production quality of the clothes.
