The invention discloses a bank self-service terminal, which comprises a banknote temporary storage part with a cash inlet opening and a foreign object temporary storage part disposed under the banknote temporary storage part. The banknote temporary storage part and the foreign objecttemporary storage partare provided withfirst openings which are communicated with each other. Each first opening isprovided with anoptional shieldand a hollowed-out first baffle that opens the first opening. The inventionfurther discloses a method for retrieving foreign object falling into the bank self-service terminal, and the foreign object retrieval method comprises the following steps: receiving a foreign object claiming application sent by the user, wherein the foreign object claiming application carriesaccount information data; moving the first baffle to open the first opening according to the foreign object claiming application. The bank self-service terminal and the foreign object retrieval methodof the invention enableclientsto retrievethe foreign object slipped into the foreign object temporary storage part on their own through the opening and closing of the baffle at the time of depositing/withdrawal or during a period of time. The terminal is simple in structure and convenient in operation and the user experience is improved.
