An excitation light source apparatus (1) is provided with: an excitation light source (11) that generates Raman excitation light in a driven state, and stops the generation of the Raman excitation light in a stopped state; a light source control unit (12) that controls the intensity of the Raman excitation light in the driven state; an optical level measurement unit (13) that measures the opticallevel of a signal light; a logarithmic conversion unit (14) that converts a least one of the results of measurements conducted by the optical level measurement unit (13) into a logarithmic value; anda main control unit (15) that determines a correction value based on the logarithmic value of at least one of the results of measurements in the stopped state. The main control unit (15) controls thelight source control unit (12) by using the correction value and a previously set gain control target value.
