The aim of the invention is to close a receptacle (1) comprising an opening (2) as tightly as possible while keeping the amount of material required for a closure (3) used for this purpose as low as possible. Said aim is achieved by a tool (10) that closes the opening (2) in the receptacle (1) by means of the closure (3). Said tool (10) comprises a tool plate (12) which is designed in such a way that it can be introduced into the opening (2) in the receptacle (1). The tool further comprises at least one roll (11) which is disposed on the tool plate (12). The at least one roll (11) can be deflected radially outward from a starting position into a closing position and returns into its starting position in order to temporarily apply a radial force to a rim (4) of the closure (3), said rim (4)being located between the at least one roll (11) and the inner face (5) of the receptacle.
