The invention relates to a method for remote modification on protection setting based on distribution automation. The method comprises the following steps: initiating a flow by OMS, sending a settingapplication form to DMS; newly adding a setting ledger management module in the DMS system, and defining a template and a data dictionary; after receiving the setting form by the DMS system, pushing asetting form notification brief report on a man-machine interface; checking the setting form by a dispatcher, and signing in after the information is correct, automatically sending signing-in information to the OMS by the DMS; after the construction, executing the setting downloading by the dispatcher, after the downloading, automatically checking whether the downloading is successful by the DMSsystem, and feeding back a downloading result to the OMS; and showing the setting and inquiring the history setting form on the man-machine interface. The method is capable of realizing the flexible modification and switching of the distribution network line switch protection setting, improving the accuracy rate of the relay protective action of 10 kV of the line switch in the distribution network, rapidly locating the failure, and reducing the working load of a distribution operation and maintenance person.
