The invention discloses a method for managing wireless access points and a wireless access point controller. One wireless access point controller (AC) is connected with at least one main access points (AP), each main AP is connected with at least one slave AP to form an AP group, and the AC sends a management command to all the slave APs of the AP group to which the main AP belongs through the main AP connected with the AC or monitors all the slave APs of the AP group to which the main AP belongs through the main AP connected with the AC. According to the method for managing the wireless access point and the wireless access point controller, the AC can conduct connection state monitoring, configuration information sending and event monitoring on all the APs controlled by the AC, therefore, real-time management and control over all the APs controlled by the AC and the purpose of expanding the AC is achieved.
