The invention relates to an illumination device for vehicles, comprising a light-source unit and an optics apparatus for generating a predetermined signalling light distribution, by means of which a predetermined signalling function can be provided, wherein the optics apparatus has at least two optical units, wherein a first optical unit is provided for deflecting a first light beam, emitted by a first light source of the light-source unit, for generating the predetermined signalling light distribution and wherein a second optical unit is provided as hologram element for deflecting a second light beam generated by a second light source of the light-source unit, for generating a holographic luminous graphic such that the predetermined signalling function is formed by the signalling light distribution and the spatially separate holographic luminous graphic.
