The invention relates to a star type rosin base trimeric surfactant with phenyl ring containing connection chains namely tris(R-4)-ph and surface activity thereof. The molecular structure of the surfactant is shown in the description. The invention provides the molecular structure and a synthesis method of the novel rosin base trimeric surfactant. The trimeric surfactant has very good solubility and surface activity. The main synthesis raw material (dehydroabietic acid) is originated from a natural product (rosin) and has the advantages of renewable property, biodegradable property, abundance, and easiness for structure modification. Due to the excellent properties of the surfactant, the surfactant can be used in formulas of oil field chemical products, daily chemical products, bactericides, antistatic agents, and detergents.
