The invention relates to a position-based event reminding method and apparatus. The method comprises the steps of providing a first control used for starting event reminding in a video playing interface of a mobile terminal; providing a second control used for receiving setting of a destination by a user in the video playing interface in response to the first control triggered by the user; locating the position of the mobile terminal; and when a distance between the position and the set destination is smaller than or equal to a threshold, providing the event reminding. According to the method and apparatus, in conditions that the setting of the destination by the user is received in the video playing interface, the position of the mobile terminal is located, and the position is close to and/or reaches the set destination, the event reminding is provided for the user so that the user is prevented from missing the destination due to concentration on watching a video during position moving.
