The invention discloses a method for preparing polyoxymethylene dimethyl ether. According to the process, ethanol, propyl alcohol, butanol, amyl alcohol, paraformaldehyde, trioxymethylene and a formaldehyde solution are taken as raw materials, and under the action of an acid catalyst, the polyoxymethylene dimethyl ether is prepared in a kettle type reactor in a catalyzed synthesis manner. The invention provides a synthesis and separation method of the polyoxymethylene dimethyl ether, the synthesis process has the advantages of simplicity and feasibility, small equipment corrosion, high once through yield and high security, unreacted raw materials and products are separated at one time in the separation process in a pressurized distillation manner, and the method has the advantages of high separation efficiency, low unit consumption and high raw material circulation utilization rate.
