A method for designing an imaging objective system of a combined magnification. The specific process is: step 1, designing a fully spherical imaging objective system A which is coaxial and has a magnification of M; step 2, taking various mirror curvatures in the system A as optimization variables, so as to optimize the system A as a system B having a magnification of N; step 3, converting various mirrors in the system A into deformed non-spherical shape, wherein the longitudinal curvatures of the various deformed non-sphere remain unchanged, and the transverse curvatures are curvatures of corresponding mirrors in the system B, thus obtaining an imaging system C of a combined magnification of which the longitudinal magnification is M and the transverse magnification is N. The imaging objective system designed by using this method can realize different magnifications in different directions.
