The invention relates to a twist-beam axle and a method for producing a torsion profile. A twist-beam axle (1) for a motor vehicle comprises two longitudinal pull bars (2, 3) and the torsion profile (4) connecting the longitudinal pull bars. The torsion profile is made of a slab (8) provided with a middle portion (5) and flanges (10, 11) which are arranged at the tail ends and are widened respective to the middle portion. The middle portion (5) is formed into a U-or-V-shaped profile and is open at one side. The flanges (10, 11) of the slab are connected to the middle portion, are provided with end sections (6,7) having enclosed hollow outlines, and are jointed along the attaching vertical edges. The flanges (10, 11) are outwardly formed from the open side (12) of the middle portion (5), and are mutually connected in a horizontal longitudinal plane (HLE1) above the open side (12) of the middle portion (5) particularly in a welding manner. The middle portion (5) is single-layered, and the end sections (6,7) have enclosed hollow outlines.
