A radiation image detection device that performs accurate X-ray dose measurement even if the relative positions of a grid and measurement pixels have shifted. An image detection unit (30) is arranged behind the grid (14) having a grid pitch (G). Normal pixels (40a) that detect X-ray images and measurement pixels (40b) that measure X-ray doses are arranged two-dimensionally in the image detection unit (30). Out of one group of measurement pixels (40b) that calculate the average value for dose measurement signals using an Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) unit (54), a number ([C/D]) are arranged or selected using cycle (Z) = (R * C) +/- D; C being the cycle for the repeated pattern appearing in the direction of arrangement of an X-ray transmitting layer (35) and an X-ray absorbing layer (36) in the grid (14), on an X-ray image of the grid (14), the unit being the number of pixels, R being a natural number of at least 0, D being an integer smaller than the cycle (C), and [C/D] being the largest integer no greater than C/D. When D = 1, the average value is the same each time, and variation disappears.
