The endoscopic instrument has a shaft (2) with an instrument head (9) arranged on the distal end of the shaft (1), which head has a tool with two jaws (11, 12) which can be pivoted towards each other, which jaws can be controlled from the proximal end of the instrument by means of pull cords (5-8) guided in the shaft (2), wherein at least one jaw (11, 12) has two cam discs on which one of the pull cords (5-8) acts. Two cam discs of differing radial size are provided for each jaw (11, 12), wherein the radially larger cam disc is arranged closer to the longitudinal central axis (14) of the tool than the radially smaller cam disc.
