A dynamic reconfiguration method for a microprocessor is provided. The microprocessor at least includes a fingerprint unit and dynamically reconfigurable functional units. The method includes a step that a static fingerprint and a fingerprint setting criterion table of fingerprint generation criteria; a step that when the dynamically reconfigurable functional units execute instructions according to the configuration setting, the fingerprint unit generates dynamic fingerprints and is compared with the dynamic fingerprints; and a step that the dynamically reconfigurable functional units is reset when the dynamic fingerprints match the static fingerprint. The static fingerprint is used for optimizing configuration of dynamically reconfigurable functional units of the microprocessor. An engineer identifies a program portion of the configuration for optimizing the dynamically reconfigurable functional units and designs the fingerprint generation criteria according to an instruction string associated with the program portion, and the static fingerprint is generated by utilizing the fingerprint generation criteria.
