In the present invention, the sun gear (11) and ring gear (13) of a first planetary gear mechanism (10) are joined to the sun gear (31) of a third planetary gear mechanism (30) and the carrier (42) of a fourth planetary gear mechanism (40); the carrier (22) of a second planetary gear mechanism (20) is joined to a ring gear (33) and a sun gear (41); the carrier (22) and the ring gear (33), the sun gear (41) and a carrier (12), a carrier (32) and a ring gear (23), and a sun gear (21) and a ring gear (43) are connected by means of clutches (C1, C2, C3); brakes (B1, B2, B3) are connected to the sun gear (11) and a sun gear (31), the carrier (32), and the ring gear (43); the ring gear (23) is connected to an input shaft (3); and the carrier (12) is connected to an output gear (4). As a result, it is possible to configure an automatic transmission device that can shift to a forward ninth gear and a reverse gear.
