The invention discloses a preparation method of a microcapsule for gathering rare earth ions. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, dissolving a clad material into a clad material liquid to form mixed liquor, and forming a microcapsule shell together with the mixed liquor; finally putting the microcapsule shell into a rare-earth ion extracting agent, and forming the microcapsule for gathering the rare earth ions, wherein the method for forming the microcapsule shell comprises the following steps: a, dropwise adding an emulsion into a coagulating bath formed by ethanol and water, and forming the microcapsule shell; or b, spraying the emulsion to form liquid drops by adopting a spray drying process, and forming the microcapsule shell after the clad material liquid on the liquid drops volatilizes, or c, dropwise adding the emulsion into a water liquid containing 5-8wt% of gelatin to agitate, and forming the microcapsule shell after the clad material liquid volatilizes. The method is simple, small in energy consumption, high in yield, and beneficial to industrialization of microcapsule production, and the microcapsule free of the clad extracting agent is not generated.
