The invention discloses a wireless access point site selection method comprising the following steps: collecting service data of a terminal, analyzing each service data, determining mobility of services, and classifying the services based on the mobility of the services; gathering set-type service amount of each cell; carrying out classification on each terminal based on the service data; classifying the cell into indoor site-sharing cells and outdoor section-sharing cells; determining the priority of wireless local area network (WLAN) site selection of each indoor site-sharing cell and outdoor section-sharing cell according to preset threshold parameters, and determining busy time subscriber number, service flow and usage frequency of cells where the WLAN site selection priority is larger than a set level; and according to the busy time subscriber number, the service flow and the usage frequency of the cells, determining the quantity of needed wireless access points (AP), which serves as the lowest AP allocation quantity of the cells. The invention also discloses a wireless access point site selection apparatus simultaneously. The wireless access point site selection method and apparatus help to select a better site for the AP, and the coverage area of the WLAN service of a mobile terminal is allowed to be wider.
