The invention discloses an electro-optical distance measurement ground side length transforming method in engineering measurement. The method comprises the following steps: calculating a mark center slope distance; calculating and correcting a mark center zenith distance; dealing with the calculation relationship among the mark center slope distance, the zenith distance and height difference. The influence of the difference between instrument height and prism height on a corrected distance is corrected, so that a more reliable and preciser corrected distance is obtained; the zenith distance observed at two points is transformed to a zenith distance of the midpoint between the two points, so that most influences caused by vertical refraction and plumb line deflection can be offset and the calculation precision of distance and height difference is enhanced.
