A damper with a vehicle height adjusting function comprises a damper main body and a vehicle height adjusting mechanism. The damper main body includes: a cylinder; a ring-shaped head member for sealing one end of the cylinder; a piston rod pivotally supported on the inner circumference of the head member and movably inserted into the cylinder in an axial direction; and a piston held by the piston rod and partitioning the inside of the cylinder into two pressure chambers. The vehicle height adjusting mechanism adjusts the length of the damper main body in the axial direction and has: a partition wall member defining a jack chamber in one of the pressure chambers and stretchable in the axial direction; and a pump for supplying and discharging a working fluid to/from the jack chamber.
