A ligation apparatus for ligating a living tissue by a clip, where the ligation apparatus is optimal for ligation of a living tissue in a body cavity. The ligation apparatus includes an openable/closable clip claw member; a pressing member to be advanced and retreated relative to the clip claw member to make it opened and closed; an operation member; a connection member to connect the clip claw member and the front end of the operation member; a sheath to hold the operation member in a freely advanced and retreated way; and an elastic mechanism to apply the elastic force between the pressing member and the clip claw member or between the connection member and the operation member and apply force to the clip claw member in the advanced and retreated way.
