The invention provides a self-respiration direct methanol fuel battery system based on a metal polar plate and a preparation method thereof. The direct methanol fuel battery system comprises a fuel battery main body, a fuel supply unit and a fuel diversion device, wherein the fuel battery main body comprises a group of direct methanol fuel battery monomers, and every fuel battery monomer comprises a membrane electrode component provided with an electrolyte film and a cathode and an anode of the battery which are positioned on corresponding positions at both sides of the membrane electrode; the fuel supply unit is used for supplying fuel at uniform flow rate to a battery group and meeting fuel consumption required when the battery group works; and the fuel diversion device is used for averagely distributing fuel in the fuel supply unit to every group of direct methanol fuel batteries in a parallel output mode. The invention has the advantages of low pollution, high efficiency, convenient fuel supply, high safety, simple structure, light quality, small volume, high specific energy density, easy operation, and the like.
