摘要： Embodiments may utilize a series of exposed fins, which increase the surface area of the heat sink creating additional air flow. As hotter air rises within the system, cooler is drawn into the heatsink. The fins may be exposed on both sides of the longitudinal axis, allowing cooler air to be drawn towards the longitudinal axis above the heatsink and flow upward. This process may cool the fins. Additionally, the spacing between the fins may have to be wide enough to allow for air to freely enter the heatsink.

The film bridge assembly makes up part of a film bridge and illuminator cavity system that includes a slot for the passage of illumination light that is used to scan film at an opening of the slot. A window or cylindrical lens is provided at the opening of the slot to permit film to pass over the slot without incurring any scratching. The window or lens is effective to keep the film at a constant height, reduce debris at the image plane, and permit a maximum amount of illumination light to pass through the film.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention provide separate optical devices operable to couple to a separate LED, the separate optical device comprising an entrance surface to receive light from a separate LED when the separate optical device is coupled to the separate LED, an exit surface opposite from and a distance from the entrance surface and a set of sidewalls. The exit surface has at least a minimum area necessary to conserve brightness for a desired half-angle of light projected from the separate optical device. Furthermore, each sidewall is positioned and shaped so that at least a majority of rays having a straight transmission path from the entrance surface to that sidewall reflect to the exit surface with an angle of incidence at the exit surface at less than or equal to a critical angle at the exit surface.
