    • A holder for a data storage medium is disclosed, the holder including a substrate and a cling polymer layer attached to at least a portion of the substrate. The cling polymer layer has an outer surface defining a target area configured for releasably securing the data storage medium to the substrate, whereby the data storage medium may be repeatedly placed on the target area to secure the data storage medium to the substrate for handling as a unit. Related packages including such data storage media are also disclosed. Adhesives may be utilized as well, either as a supplement to or in lieu of the use of a cling polymer, to provide additional securing force to hold the data storage media to the substrate.

    • Methods and systems for improving virtual representations of large molecules, provide a "prepared" virtual representation of the target protein. The prepared virtual representation of the target protein is useful for further in-silico, or computer processing. Further processing can include, without limitation, designing of small molecules that will potentially bind and/or interact with the target protein. In accordance with the invention, one or more features of the virtual representation of the protein are assessed. One or more of a variety of assessments can be performed including, without limitation, analyzing for completeness (e.g., missing and/or incomplete residues and/or side chains), identifying missing (typically smaller) atoms, determining ionization states (i.e., protonated or not), determining orientation of bonds, and/or identifying atoms that are not part of the protein. The virtual representation of the protein is then modified, as needed, based, at least in part, on the assessment(s). Modification can include, without limitation, refining, improving, tailoring, editing, and/or revising the virtual representation of the protein.

    • Systems and methods are described for inhibiting the readability of an optical storage media (200) due to changes in a pseudo-reflective material (220) that composes the optical media (200) after the optical media (200) has been exposed to air for a predetermined time. An optical media (200) includes a data encoded element (220). At least a fraction of the data transforms from a substantially optically reflective state to a substantially optically non-reflective state as at least in part a function of time from an initializing event. The systems and methods provide advantages because of low cost, limited content lifetime, avoidance of rental returns and minimum changes to existing manufacturing processes.

    • The present invention provides a computer-implemented method and an apparatus for manufacturing an analogue audio storage medium wherein digital audio data is converted into topographical data representing an analogue translation of the digital audio data, and a laser beam is selectively applied to a substrate to form a physical imprint of the topographical data on the surface of the substrate to create an analogue audio storage medium. The medium may be directly playable on a conventional playback device such as a record player and/or used to mould further playable mediums. The invention thereby enables more efficient manufacturing of e.g. vinyl records and consistently ensures a much higher quality of analogue audio.

    • An optical disc of a thicker supporting section and a thinner recording section inludes a reinforcement section of a predetermined width which overlaps a supporting section and a recording section. The reinforcement section strengthens the structure of the optical disc and raises the resonant frequency of the optical disc, so that the vibration of the optical disc is suppressed, thus making the disc suitable for high speed (16x up) reading/writing. The optical disc comprises: a circular opening disposed in the center of the optical disc; an annular recording section for recording information; an annular supporting section disposed between the annular recording section and the circular opening, wherein the annular supporting section is thicker than the annular recording section; and an annular reinforcement section which is disposed on one of the two sides of the optical disc and overlaps the annular supporting section and the annular recording section
