    • The invention relates to a shotgun cartridge case and to a shotgun cartridge made therefrom. The case is made in one piece from injection-moulded plastic material and has a cylindrical wall and a base portion with a central opening for a primer. A set of peripherally situated heels (18) is attained by means of grooves extending from the end plane of the base portion, preferably a pair of concentric circular grooves (13, 14) and radial grooves (15) connecting the circular grooves, which grooves have a substantial extension in the axial direction of the case, preferably at least about 2/3 of the minimum axial material thickness of the base portion. These heels absorb the powder charge gas pressure and execute a translatory displacement in the axial direction of the case without the primer hole being deformed, whereby leakage of powder charge gases through the primer hole and displacement of the primer itself are avoided. In one embodiment, the primer opening is enlarged at its region connecting to the powder charge chamber and forms a cavity for receiving an adhesive means in the form of a collar adhered to the primer, thereby providing further insurance against displacement of the primer due to the powder charge gases.

    • A shotgun shell magazine to be received within a mil-spec magazine of an M16/AR-15 mil-spec firearm is disclosed. The magazine has an open top end defining a cavity configured to receive one or more shotgun shells. The magazine body includes a feed lip which partially occludes the open top end and a rim edge including a vertical edge strip which defines a gap in communication with the cavity. A follower having a ramped upper surface resides within the cavity. The follower is biased to direct the shotgun shells toward the open top end until the primer end of a top most shotgun shell engages the feed lip. The top most shotgun shell is angled with respect to the open top end and at least a portion of the closed end of the top most shotgun shell lies above a plane created by the open top end.

    • There is provided a lead-free projectile (10), such as a bullet or a ballistic shot, formed by liquid phase sintering or liquid phase bonding of a first particulate (12) having a density greater than lead, a second, ductile, particulate (14) having a melting temperature in excess of 400 DEG C and a binder (16) having a fluidity temperature that is less than the melting temperature of the second particulate (14). Unlike solid phase sintering that tends to produce articles having a porosity of about 20 %, by volume, liquid phase sintering and liquid phase bonding achieve close to 0 % porosity. Reducing the porosity level decreases the amount of high density, first particulate (12), required to achieve a density close to that of lead. One suitable composition for the projectile is ferrotungsten-iron-zinc.
