    • A dust suppression system (10) for suppressing dust associated with the operation of a continuous type mining machine (12) may comprise a housing (30) having an inlet (32) and an outlet (34). A venturi spray assembly (36) having an inlet end (38) and an outlet end (40) is mounted within the housing (30). A fluid injection system connected to the venturi spray assembly (36) provides a fluid under pressure (44) to the venturi spray assembly (36). The fluid under pressure (44) provided to the venturi spray assembly (36) causes the venturi spray assembly (36) to pull dust contained adjacent its inlet end (38) and discharge it adjacent its outlet end (40). The fluid (44) used to operate the venturi spray assembly (36) combines with a portion of the dust thereby suppressing a release of dust into a surrounding atmosphere.
