摘要： The invention comprises a process of cyclic thermochemical dissociation of oxides catalysed by a metal compound of general structural formula MX, wherein M is a metal; X is none or oxygen or halogen, the said oxygen or halogen present in moles equivalent to M; comprising at least a step of recovering anhydrous metal halide from a process stream and recycling the metal halide or thermally decomposing the same to metal and halogen for recycling. The oxide selected for dissociation may be carbon-dioxide or water. After dissociation of oxides, the products of the reaction undergo a series of reactions comprising a reaction with a halogen, formation of metal halides and oxyhalides as intermediates, thermal decomposition of metal oxyhalides to recover metal oxides and Iodine for recycle, recovery of metal halides for recycle and thermal decomposition of metal halides to metal and halogen for recycle in the said cyclic process.

摘要： Trace element levels of heavy metals such as mercury in crude oil are reduced by contacting the crude oil with an iodine source, generating a water soluble heavy metal complex for subsequent removal from the crude oil. In one embodiment, the iodine source is generated in-situ in an oxidation-reduction reaction, by adding the crude oil to an iodine species having a charge and a reductant or an oxidant depending on the charge of the iodine species. In one embodiment with an iodine species having a positive charge and a reducing reagent, a complexing agent is also added to the crude oil to extract the heavy metal complex into the water phase to form water soluble heavy metal complexes which can be separated from the crude oil, for a treated crude oil having reduced levels of heavy metals.

摘要： The invention relates to a method and kit for quick and low-cost determination of the iodide ion content, which can be used not only to detect the possible iodine deficient conditions but also to estimate the iodide ion concentration of aqueous solutions. The present invention relates to a method for the determination of iodide ions in an aqueous solution, comprising the steps of: a) providing a liquid sample for which iodide ion concentration has to be determined, b) adding at least one drop of aqueous solution of metal ion to the liquid sample of step a) wherein the metal ions selectively precipitate with iodide ion under normal conditions; c) shaking the liquid sample of step b) and waiting for 1 to 5 minutes, preferably 3 minutes; d) repeating steps b) and c) until the precipitation is clearly visible to the naked eye in the test solution; e) recording and summing up the number of drops; and f) determining the amount of iodide ions based on the number of drops. The present invention further relates to a kit for determination of iodide ions in an aqueous solution. The kit according to the invention comprises a sample vessel, a vessel equipped with a dropper wherein the said vessel contains a metal salt solution which selectively precipitates with iodide ion content under normal conditions and an instruction for describing the method of determining the iodide ions in aqueous solution.
