    • A system for transforming rotating motion into linear motion may include an output gear and an output link coupled to the output gear. A shared link may be coupled to the output link and coupled to a rod. An arm may be coupled to the shared link and to a rotating drive. An idle gear may be coupled to the output gear and to a stationary gear. Once rotation has started with the rotating drive, the output gear and idle gear may rotate around the stationary gear while the output link pivots and translates through space with the output gear. The shared link may drive the rod in a linear direction while receiving stabilizing supporting forces from the output link. The intermediate link may be coupled to the output link with a pin. The pin may also couple the intermediate link to the arm.

    • A compression device allows for compressing a carbonated beverage container, for maintaining the container in a compressed state, and for releasing the container from the compressed state when desired. In one embodiment, the compression device (100) includes a first frame (101), a second frame (102), a first linking frame (103) and a second linking frame (104). The frames are joined together by hinge connectors (111, 112, 113, and 114), forming a quadrilateral enclosure or compression assembly that accepts a PET bottle. A hinge controller (119), associated with the first hinge connector (111), is operative to control compression and release of the bottle.

    • A device for reducing the volume of empty cans and bottles comprises a housing having one open side to receive a can or bottle, two retaining plates and a slot extending centrally and substantially the length of two opposing sides of the housing, two pins extending through a box shaped ram and through both slots in the sides of the housing, and a lever having two arms each connected to an end of one of the pins by a linkage wherein moving the lever results in sliding movement of the ram along the slots. By moving the lever, a can or bottle placed within the housing will be crushed between one plate and the ram to significantly reduce its volume.
