    • In a hair setter apparatus, a heater assembly is enclosed within a housing. The heater assembly has a longitudinal heat delivery rail mounted in the housing and having a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal heat delivery rail includes a groove extending longitudinally along at least part of the heat delivery rail. A corresponding hair setter has a central body having opposing web plates spaced from each other to define a mounting slot extending longitudinally of the hair setter. The mounting slot is configured to engage the groove of the heat delivery rail upon mounting the hair setter thereon to slidably couple the hair setter to the heat delivery rail for sliding movement longitudinally of heat delivery rail while inhibiting decoupling of the hair setter from the heat delivery rail in a direction transverse to the rail.

The heat plate is spaced from the first arm in both the opened position and the closed position of the hair styling apparatus to define an air gap therebetween.

    • The invention relates to a catalytic gas combustion engine for an appliance for personal use, especially a hair styling device, such as curling tongs (1) or a hairdryer, comprising a gas delivery device (12) and a catalyst (5) which is connected to said gas delivery device. An ignition device (38, 39) which is controlled by an ignition system is provided for igniting the gas-air mixture and initiating catalytic combustion on the catalyst (5). According to the invention, the gas delivery device (12) has a bypass (40) for diverting a partial gas stream which flows against the ignition device (38, 39). This enables the ignition system to be activated shortly after the gas valve device has been opened and the catalyst can be heated to its operating temperature by the explosion of the gas-air mixture. In addition to the short waiting times for the start of the catalyst (5), the invention also provides a catalytic gas combustion device which functions better and reacts more quickly.

    • In a hair styling apparatus and method, a first arm has a heating element and a contact plate heatable by the heating element and having a hair-contact surface. At least one temperature sensor is configured to sense a temperature of the heating element. A controller is operable to determine whether the hair styling apparatus is in an opened position or a closed position and is communicatively coupled to the at least one temperature sensor. The controller is operable to control the temperature of the heating element by: when the hair styling apparatus is in its closed position, energizing the heating element when the sensed temperature falls below a first threshold temperature, and when the hair styling apparatus is in its opened position, energizing the heating element when the sensed temperature falls below a second threshold temperature. The second threshold temperature is higher than the first threshold temperature.
