摘要： The footwear, which is compostable at the time its functional life has ended, consists of an upper with a lining and a stitched insole and an outsole with an integrated insole and a thermo-counter attached to the upper. To control the biodegradability of footwear as a whole into low molecular weight compounds such as carbon dioxide, water and compost within a maximum time horizon of 20 years, the upper and lining are made of biodegradable vegetable tanned leather with threaded seams which are as well as the shoelaces made exclusively of biodegradable fibres, the stitched insole is cotton or linen. The outsole based on the reactive biodegradable polyurethane is attached to the upper without adhesives, directly during the synthesis of the polyurethane from the polyol component and the isocyanate component in a weight ratio of 1: 0.4 to 1: 4. The polyol component consists of a mixture of 100 wt. parts of polyester polyol with a molecular weight of 500 to 5000 g/mol and a hydroxyl number of 20 to 100 mg KOH/g, 1 to 30 wt. parts of a diol-based chain extender with a molecular weight of 50 to 400 g/mol and a hydroxyl number of 200 to 2,000 mg KOH/ g, 0.1 to 2 wt. parts of water as blowing agent, 0.05 to 2. w-L parts of amine catalyst and 1 to 5 wt. parts of dye and the isocyanate component consists of a polyisocyanate with an NCO group content of 5 to 30%.

摘要： A process for preparing a biobased material is provided. The process has the steps of providing a first microorganism, or a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY), that is capable of producing bacterial cellulose. Culture conditions are provided that enable the production of bacterial cellulose by the first microorganism or by the SCOBY, so as to form a first layer comprising bacterial cellulose. The first layer defines a basal layer. A second microorganism is provided, selected from the group consisting of: one or more fungi; one or more algae; one or more bacteria; and combinations thereof. Culture conditions are provided that enable growth of the second microorganism so as to form a second layer. The second layer is grown on a surface of the first layer. This forms the biobased bacterial cellulose material. The material has first and second major exterior surfaces formed from the first and second layers respectively, wherein the first and second surfaces exhibit different property characteristics.

摘要： A piece of natural wood can be immersed in a first solution at a first temperature less than 100 ºC, and then immersed in a second solution at a second temperature greater than 100 ºC so as to form a piece of partially-delignified wood. In some embodiments, the first and second solutions can be the same solution, and the immersion at the second temperature can be heating the solution from the first temperature to the second temperature. The immersion in the first and second solutions can be effective to remove 45-90% of lignin from the piece of natural wood and to destroy a structure of the ray cells in the piece of natural wood while retaining cell walls of the other cells. The partially-delignified wood can then be dried. After drying, the partially-delignified wood can be elastic along its tangential direction but inelastic along its radial and longitudinal directions.
