摘要： A metallurgical apparatus comprises a vessel for holding a body of liquid metal and a circulating apparatus for circulating the body of liquid metal within the vessel. The vessel has a peripheral wall and a base, and the circulating apparatus comprises a launder that provides an open-topped flow channel and a pumping device for pumping liquid metal through the launder. The launder has an inlet end connected to a first opening in the peripheral wall and an outlet end connected to a second opening in the peripheral wall. The pumping device is configured to pump liquid metal through the launder so that liquid metal flows out of the vessel through the first opening and into the vessel through the second opening, thereby causing the body of liquid metal within the vessel to circulate.

By means of the present disclosure it is possible to minimize desired process properties such as the melting time or the total power consumption of the melting process. 摘要： The invention concerns metallothermal process and continuous drawing of a metal product consisting of at least one metal, comprising: a step for melting the metal in a first cold crucible (1) heated by induction where the reduction of said metal oxide or salt is brought about in a reduction medium (8) and where the formed metal decants in a solvent medium (7) for the scoria resulting from reduction to be absorbed; a step for gathering and melting the decanting metal, carried out in a second cold crucible (3) heated by induction and located under the first cold crucible (1), for obtaining a continuous drawing of the metal product. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method consisting of a first induction crucible with cold furnaces communicating with a second induction crucible with cold furnaces for continuously drawing off the molten metal. The invention is particularly useful for obtaining uranium or an alloy containing uranium.

The method includes: a) providing a number of electromagnetic stirrer units, each stirrer unit being moveably mounted on a stirrer support carriage; b) providing a number of locations at which stirring is to be provided by a stirrer unit; c) providing stirring at a first location from amongst the number of locations using a stirrer unit; d) providing stirring at a second location from amongst the number of locations using the same stirrer unit, the second location being different to the first location; and wherein the stirrer unit has a first position relative to the stirrer support carriage during movement between the first location and the second location and the stirrer unit has a second position relative to the stirrer support carriage at the first location and at the second location during stirring. The method allows the stirring unit to be readily conveyed between the locations, whilst also allowing the stirring unit to be optimally positioned for the provision of stirring.

摘要： An apparatus with a vessel (20), a first induction source (30), and a second induction source (32) in the melt zone (12). The first induction source (30) is used to melt the material received in the vessel (20). The second induction source (32) is used to contain the material in a meltable form within the vessel (20) during melting.
