摘要： A glue applicator for a labelling system comprising a rotating vacuum drum (10a) which picks up labels and holds them on its surface by vacuum and transports each label from a label pickup station to a label delivery system, such system also comprising a glue wheel (11a) for applying glue to each label as it passes by the glue wheel on the vacuum drum. The glue wheel is formed with peripheral grooves (15a) spaced along its length, each of which is semi-circular in shape. A separation wire (12a) is lodged in each groove and is held taut with its ends anchored on opposite sides of the glue wheel. Each separation wire substantially completely fills its groove and is tangent to the projection of the glue wheel over the groove open face. A doctor blade (40) is provided which smoothes the glue on the glue wheel just in advance of contact of the glue wheel with the label.

The palette is intended to coact with a rotary gluing roller so as to be coated with glue and then to transfer glue to a label transported by the palette from a label magazine to a transfer device. The transfer device is intended to take the glue-coated label from the palette and to press the label against the object concerned. The palette includes a core (18) and a carrier which is fitted to the core and can be readily detached therefrom. The carrier has the form of a pliable apron-like element (21) which will mould itself to the configuration of the core (18) and which is provided with at least one outwardly projecting part (23) made of an elastic material. This outwardly projecting part has a shape which corresponds essentially to the shape of the label to be coated with glue.

摘要： An apparatus for applying labels to objects, such as bottles or the like. The apparatus comprises at least one moveable gluing palette (7) which is intended to coact with a rotary gluing roller (1) so as to be coated with glue, and thereafter to transfer glue to label (17) which is transported by the palette from a label magazine (11) to a gripper (12) which is intended to grip the glue-coated label and to press the label onto an object (15) concerned. The apparatus is characterized in that the outer cylindrical surface of the gluing roller (1) is provided with grooves (2) which are intended to be kept filled with glue; and in that at least the outer layer (10) of each gluing palette (7) is slightly elastic so that when the palette is urged into contact with the ridges (3) extending between the grooves (2) on the gluing roller (1) parts of the outer layer (10) will be pressed partially into the grooves (2) so as to come into contact with the glue present in the grooves.
