    • A low pressure drop rotating active filter system and a method for filtration of particulate loaded fluid. In an embodiment, the system comprises a housing inside which is disposed filter media with a non-fiat, preferably corrugated, surface. The filter media is positioned on a support structure with also a non-fiat, preferably corrugated, surface. An additional support mechanism is present for supporting the non-flat filter media and the corresponding non-flat support structure. The process for filtering a particle loaded fluid utilizes a rotating filter system, and comprises the steps of feeding the fluid into the housing and to the outer surface of the filter media, sucking the fluid through the filter media, and depositing the particles on the surface of the filter media. Also claimed is a process for filtering particulate loaded fluid, comprising the steps of monitoring the pressure drop across the filter, comparing the data to historical filter data to assess the filter efficiency and accordingly performing a cleaning operation.

The apparatus allows the disassembling of each single filtering disc. Moreover it allows the installation of driving means with lower power compared with filtering apparatuses having axial drive.
