摘要： A tuneable optical filter is used to select a given channel of data from a DWDM multiplex. The data is encoded on the channel using forward error correction. The filter is set to a prestored position for the channel selected and the bit error rate measured at that position. The tuning is then dithered about the original position and the error rate measured at each setting. The filter is set at the position where the BER is at a minimum to optimise the tuning.

The system further includes a controller connected to the optical detector and the tunable optical filter, for stepping the tunable optical filter over a sequence of wavelengths while analyzing respective optical levels, and for reversing the stepping direction of the tunable optical filter, based upon the current optical level being less than a prior optical level, to locate the wavelength peak of the at least one optical signal. A sample rate is reduced when the wavelength peak of the optical signal is located, to thereby reduce a power consumption of the controller.

摘要： An optical or optoelectronic receiver and module, and methods of making and using the same, are disclosed. The receiver includes a photodetector, a first microelectromechanical device configured to reflect a multi-wavelength optical signal, a thin film filter configured to receive the multi-wavelength optical signal reflected by the first microelectromechanical device and separate a single-wavelength optical signal from the multi-wavelength optical signal, a first lens configured to focus the single-wavelength optical signal on the photodetector, and a second microelectromechanical device configured to reflect the single-wavelength optical signal towards the first lens. Each wavelength of the multi-wavelength optical signal represents or corresponds to a unique channel over which the receiver receives optical signals. The present receiver and methods enable low-cost, high-volume manufacturing of multi-channel optical or optoelectronic receivers.
