摘要： The invention relates to a method and arrangement for detecting free fibre ends in a paper surface. The method comprises illuminating a target sample (6) surface, which comprises free fibre ends, from at least two directions one at the time, with at least one light source (1). Original reflectance images are obtained for the target sample (6) surface with an imaging device (4), and a surface normal is estimated for each image pixel of the original reflectance image. Thus it is possible to reconstruct a reconstructed reflectance image from the estimated surface normals, and to compare the reconstructed reflectance image and the corresponding original reflectance image and to construct a difference image, where the differences represent shadow objects of the free fibre ends in a paper surface.

摘要： A station optically inspects banded cigarette paper by directing an elongated beam of white light laterally across a web of the cigarette paper. The elongated beam impinges on the surface of the cigarette paper and forms reflections. A plurality of line scan camera (84) containing linear CCD arrays receive the reflections and generate output signals. One or more processing units (72, 76) process the ouput signals to generate data indicative of the spacing between bands, the width of the bands, and the contrast of the bands. These calculations can be periodically transferred to a separate computer workstation over a network. The workstation generates statistical reports on the basis of the calculations, such as the band width, band spacing and band contrast as a function of lane number, and as a function of time. The statistical reports provide a convenient way of quickly detecting irregularities in application of the bands. According to exemplary embodiments, the inspection station is designed for installation in a cigarette paper manufacturing system.

摘要： A dynamic photometric stereo inspection technique usable to capture and analyse the topography of a moving surface. The technique includes an enhanced data capture method and apparatus comprising a spaced array of at least two coplanar illuminates to improve measurement range and accuracy. The apparatus can be used to inspect banknotes, e.g. to assist with fitness assessment and/or forgery detection. The method may comprise automatically assessing surface topography data to provide qualitative and quantitative information about 2D and 3D features, such as changes in reflectivity, colour, glossiness, 3D texture and the surface profile of the surface under inspection.

摘要： A manufacturing system includes rollers having synchronization marks to indicate complete rotations. Synchronization mark readers read the synchronization marks of the plurality of rollers and output roll synchronization signals. An encoder outputs a position signal indicative of a down-web distance of the web. An inspection system inspects the web and outputs anomaly data identifying positions of anomalies on the web. A synchronization unit receives the position signal from the encoder and the plurality of roll synchronization signals from the synchronization mark readers and converts the occurrence of each of the roll synchronization signals into down-web positions within a coordinate system associated with web process line. An analysis computer processes the anomaly data and the synchronization signals to identify repeated anomalies and to determine which of the rollers caused the repeated anomalies.
