    • A solid lubricant tool (24) for applying solid lubricant to the surface of a component is produced by compressing a mixture of powdered solid components under a pressure of at least about 30 kg/mm without application of heat to form a unitary conglomerated lubricating element. The powdered solid components and processing are chosen such that the lubricating element has a hardness as measured according to the Brinell scale (HB) of less than about 20. Preferred compositions include between about 5 % and about 10 % powdered graphite, and at least about 10 % powdered tin, by weight. The tools may be used interchangeably with machining tools in standard machining equipment.

    • The present inventive concept is directed to a vacuum pump comprising a rotor and a stator, wherein the rotor is supported by metal bearings (such as steel bearings) to allow relative rotation of the rotor with respect to the stator. A liquid PFPE lubricant compound is provided to lubricate the bearings, wherein the lubricant further comprises a solid lubricant that is in suspension in the liquid lubricant. The solid lubricant can comprise any of graphite, graphene and molybdenum disulphide. In other words, the inventive concept encompasses a lubricated bearing arranged to support a rotating shaft in a body under sub-atmospheric conditions, wherein a lubricant used to lubricate the bearing comprises liquid PFPE lubricant having a low vapour pressure, and a solid lubricant that is held in suspension in the liquid lubricant. The solid lubricant may comprise any of graphite, graphene and molybdenum disulphide.

    • Described is a self-lubricating, overhead conveyor system and the component parts thereof. The self-lubricating overhead conveyor system obviates the need for added lubricants, and comprises three main components: a trolley assembly, a conveyor chain and a turn wheel assembly. In one embodiment, all three components are integrated to provide an improved overhead conveyor system; however, individual components may be used to retrofit conventional overhead conveyor systems. The trolley assemblies contain a self-lubricating precision ball bearing assembly, and are joined together by a surface hardened conveyor chain internally treated to resist corrosion and eliminate flaking. The turn wheel assemblies are configured to engage the conveyor chain and provide continuous lubrication and cleaning to the conveyor chain. All components of the conveyor system of the present disclosure meet criteria established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for use in food processing applications.
