摘要： Presented herein is a safety apparatus for a door that is hingedly set in a doorframe and is equipped with at least one rotatable door handle, said safety apparatus comprising: a collar that fits around a portion of the door handle; a fastener that holds the collar in place; and an arm that extends out from the collar, terminating beyond the leading edge of the door; wherein, disposing the safety apparatus on the door handle with a portion of the arm is positioned between the door and the door frame prevents the door from closing against the door frame; and rotating the door handle with the safety apparatus disposed thereon also causes the safety apparatus to be repositioned, allowing the door to be fully closed.

The doorstop thus acts between the door and the shoulder of the doorjamb to hold the door open .
