摘要： A device for picking up magnetic metal objects (iron, nickel, etc.) and placing them at a point defined by the user without any manual contact comprises a hollow tube (1) covered at its lower end by a thin cap (6). A rod (3) slides in the tube and is fitted at its lower end with a rectangular or round magnet (2), 1.05 centimeters long and 1 centimeter in diameter, the diameter being slightly smaller than that of the tube. A flared stop collar (7) is crimped around the tube (1) and serves to detach and release the metal objects attached to the outside of the tube (1) which have followed the magnet up to the top of the collar and cannot go beyond said collar as the magnet moves up inside said tube.

摘要： A magnetic pickup tool (10) including a length of highly flexible tubing (15) with a permanent magnet (16) secured to one end of the tubing. Removably positioned within the interior of the flexible tube (15) is a stiffening member (25) such as a length of iron wire of about the same length as the flexible tubing (15). The stiffening member (25) is bendable but when bent has the ability to take a 'set'. A second length of flexible tubing (20) completely surrounds the first or inner tubing (15) and is slidable thereon. The function of the outer tube (20) is to surrround the magnetic tip (16) when the tool (10) is in the process of being positioned to pick up an object so as to prevent the magnetic tip (16) of the tool (10) from being attracted to an unwanted metal object. Further features include a magnetic tip (35) insulated from the rest of the tool (10) to prevent electrical shock to the user, and a dome-shaped end (30) of the tool (10) to reduce the tendency of the tool (10) getting caught on other objects when used.
