    • In an embodiment, a method for producing an alkyl aryl carbonate, comprises producing a dialkyl carbonate azeotrope stream comprising a dialkyl carbonate and an unreacted alkanol; purifying the dialkyl carbonate azeotrope stream in a dialkyl carbonate purification section comprising a distillation column and a pervaporation unit to provide a first purified dialkyl carbonate stream and a first purified alkanol stream; reacting the first purified dialkyl carbonate stream and an aromatic alcohol in the presence of a second transesterification catalyst in an alkyl aryl carbonate reactor to produce an alkanol product stream comprising an alkanol product and an unreacted dialkyl carbonate, and an alkyl aryl carbonate product stream comprising the alkyl aryl carbonate and an unreacted aromatic alcohol; and purifying the alkanol product stream in the dialkyl carbonate purification section.

    • A process for the production of high-purity dimethyl carbonate, comprising: - subjecting at least one commercial grade dimethyl carbonate, having a chlorine content higher than 1 ppm, to cooling, operating at a cooling temperature ranging from +60C to -5°C, and at a cooling rate ranging from 0.5°C/hour to 2°C/hour, so as to obtain dimethyl carbonate in solid form; - subjecting said dimethyl carbonate in solid form to a first heating, operating at a heating temperature ranging from -5°C to +6°C, and at a heating rate ranging from l°C/hour to 5°C/hour, so as to obtain a mixture comprising dimethyl carbonate in solid form and a predetermined amount of dimethyl carbonate in liquid form; - separating said dimethyl carbonate in liquid form from said mixture - subjecting said dimethyl carbonate in solid form to a second heating, operating at a heating temperature ranging from 20°C to 40°C, so as to obtain dimethyl carbonate in liquid form, said dimethyl carbonate in liquid form having a purity degree higher than 99.99% and a chlorine content lower than or equal to 1 ppm and use of the obtained dimethyl carbonate as organic solvent for the production of the electrolyte of lithium batteries.

    • Diphenyl carbonate is produced by reacting phenol with diethyl carbonate in a series of fixed bed reactors each of which is connected at different position on a distillation column via side draw and return streams. The composition of material in a distillation column varies along the length of the column, which is predictable under a given set of conditions of temperature and pressure, thus withdrawing streams at different stages in the column, allows the reactor receiving the feed from a particular stage to be operated under conditions to maximize the desired reaction, while allowing the unreacted or byproduct to go back into the distillation and be sent to a stage (by the equilibrium of the distillation) where they are favorably treated in a reactor.

    • The invention aims at providing a specific apparatus and process by which a low-boiling reaction mixture that is produced by a reaction-distillation process of continuously feeding a raw material consisting of a cyclic carbonate and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol into a continuous multi-stage distillation column holding a homogeneous catalyst therein to conduct reaction and distillation simultaneously and that comprises a large amount of a dialkyl carbonate and the aliphatic monohydric alcohol can be separated into an overhead component (B T ) containing the aliphatic monohydric alcohol as the main component and a bottom component (B B ) containing the dialkyl carbonate as the main component by distillation in a one distillation column industrially and stably over a long term. It has been found that between dialkyl carbonate and diol produced by the reaction-distillation process, the dialkyl carbonate can be separated as high-purity one having a purity of 97% or above through distillation stably on an industrial scale of at least two tons per hour over a long term of 1000 hours or longer and in a high yield by using one continuous multi-stage distillation column having a specific structure.
