Each severance lines has at least one row of a plurality of shaped short slits. At least some of the short slits adjacent to one end of the zipper are disposed in an opposite orientation to at least some of said short slits adjacent to the other end of said zipper so that severance of the zipper from the carton may be initiated from either end of the zipper.
